About SSS and NAIS

Working for Schools

The National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) represents more than 1,400 independent (private) schools and associations in the United States and affiliates with independent schools across the country.  NAIS’s mission includes a commitment to affordability and access to education. As part of this commitment, NAIS created the School and Student Services. Nearly 2,400 schools — NAIS members and nonmembers alike — subscribe to SSS for objective, third-party financial aid needs assessment. SSS schools also receive training, resources, and guidance to help them develop and manage equitable and professional financial aid programs.

As the sole nonprofit in the market offering these services, NAIS commits any revenue surplus from this operation into ongoing SSS development and benefits for schools rather than giving profits to outside shareholders. While we guarantee a topnotch software solution from SSS, your school can also count on us to provide the kinds of advice and counsel that you need in making the complex decisions about how to best allocate your financial aid dollars and how to remain financially sustainable in this ever-changing marketplace. The data we get from SSS users feeds our ongoing research and trend analysis of this critical issue for private and independent schools. Schools that use SSS are not just customers, they are part of a community committed to the study and continuous improvement of mission-driven, financial aid administration.
